Sarkozy is jailed for 5 years over Gaddafi funds bid

FORMER French president Nicolas Sarkozy was yesterday jailed for trying to raise election campaign funds from Libyan despot Colonel Gaddafi.

Sarkozy was sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of criminal conspiracy. He was acquitted of all other charges.

The court heard he attempted to use millions of euro from Gaddafi, who was once reviled as the father of international terrorism.
