Rock icon Cobain dies at 27

SOME 31 years ago today, the music world lost an icon when Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who had been struggling with drug addiction, took his own life just 27.

The rocker was found dead at his home three days later, on April 8, 1994, by electrician Gary Smith who was at the house to do some work.

Cobain had difficulty coping with his fame and public image, and the professional and lifelong personal pressures surrounding himself and his wife, fellow musician Courtney Love.
