Red Devils' fans hailing 'Rory effect' after victory

DELIGHTED Irish Manchester United fans are hailing the "Rory Mcllroy effect" after their team's Europa League comeback on Thursday night.

Many thought Masters champion Mcllroy would attend the match against Lyon after an express invite from manager Ruben Amorim - who declared the Premier League flops needed the same attitude as Rory to succeed.

The desperate Portuguese manager sent a message to the new Masters champion, saying: "Congratulations for The Masters and I want to invite you to Old Trafford to show your trophy.

"It is really important to us in this moment. You achieved something that a lot of people thought would be impossible and we want that feeling in our stadium."
