Platini & Blatter cleared in €2m corruption case

FORMER football powerhouses Michel Platini and Sepp Blatter were both dramatically cleared yesterday in their corruption case.

The pair were acquitted for a second time on charges of fraud, forgery, mismanagement and misappropriation of €2million of FIFA money.

Legendary French star Platini gave little reaction as the three judges gave their verdict in the Swiss appeals court in the town of Muttenz, near Basel.

But speaking outside, the former Uefa president said he was relieved his "persecution was now totally over".

He added: "Today, my honour has returned and I am very happy."

Blatter, who was head of FIFA for 17 years, alternately tapped his fingers and held his hand over his mouth in court.
