Garda Flatley's close colleague in Blanchardstown Garda Station, where he served between 2002 and 2018, Rosanna Caul delivered a eulogy.

She told the mourners: "I am on behalf of Kevin's family to share memories about the many ways he enriched our lives.

"First and foremost, Kevin is a family man and his family would like to thank everyone for their kind gestures, words, support and food.

"They are so appreciative of everyone's help.

"Everyone has been so respectful of the family's privacy over the last number of days and again they are so thankful for this. On Sunday the 11th of May 2025, the lives of Una, Erin and Aoife were changed forever.

"They never imagined when Kevin went to work that he would not return home."

Garda Caul said Kevin, who was a native of Newcastle, in South County Dublin, was now reunited with his sister Elaine.

She told how Garda Flatley studied electrical engineering at DIT in Dublin, but had always wanted to join An Garda Siochana and did in 1998. She said: "Kevin started his career in Pearse Street Garda station and was a valued member of his unit and well respected by his colleagues.
