Minister denies he leaked 'An Post near collapse'

COMMUNICATIONS Minister Patrick O'Donovan insisted he is not behind a leak which claimed An Post is on the brink of collapse.

The Irish Daily Mail reported the semi-state company is facing “a dire financial situation” with cash reserves below €1million for the first time.

It also claimed Mr O'Donovan told the Cabinet it would have made “a substantial loss” were it not for election-related mail.

However, An Post chief David McRedmond dismissed the claims as “utter garbage”.
