No date yet for report on kids' hip ops

TAOISEACH Micheal Martin said there is "no final timeline" for when a report on potentially unnecessary hip surgeries for children will be received.

He added some of the “implications are disturbing” if what has been alleged turns out to be true.

The Ditch previously reported unnecessary procedures had been conducted on kids under the care of Children's Health Ireland.

Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeill confirmed an audit of children who had hip dysplasia surgery is being undertaken.

While an audit of surgeries carried out between 2021 and 2023 is underway, letters have been sent to parents about operations as far back as 2005.
