Louth win offers real hope to all but ref call was crucial

WHAT incredible scenes there were in Croke Park yesterday as Louth became Leinster champions.

This was a proper football occasion - a huge crowd with both sets of players and supporters ravenous for success.

The game started with bucket loads of errors. There were 21 turnovers in the first half alone; to put that into context, there were eight in the first half of the Ulster final.

With Meath playing with the wind the pressure was on them to build a lead but some really poor defending at times cost them and Louth's three first half goals were crucial.

While the story is Louth and what a huge day this was for them, Robbie Brennan will look back at some of his decisions with huge regret. To allow Sam Mulroy stroll around Croke Park and handle so much ball without being tagged was a massive error on his part.
