Pres warns 'failing' island nation.. and tells Colombia leader to 'watch his ass', UN chief says law ignored as world reels from Venezuela crisis

- NADEEM BADSHAH

US president Donald Trump appears to have made threats of more Venezuela-style US military attacks on Cuba, Colombia and Mexico.

He bragged he is now “running” the South American country after its leader Nicolás Maduro was snatched.

Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores are being held at a New York detention centre on alleged drug trafficking-related charges.

Critics claim Trump's move is about oil profits but the emboldened president has hinted he may want to bomb other countries south of the USA.

Mr Trump said Saturday's strikes on Venezuela weren't meant to be a warning for Mexico, but did add that “something's going to have to be done”.

The ex-Apprentice host also branded Cuba a “failing nation.”

He said: “Cuba, as you know, is not doing very well right now. That system has not been a very good one for Cuba.
