KELLEHER'S NO.1 FOR BRENTFORD

CAOIMHIN Kelleher is set to swap Liverpool for Brentford after Arne Slot green-lighted his exit, with the two clubs agreeing a deal worth up to €21.4m.

The initial fee will see the Anfield side net €15m, with the remainder coming their way in performance-related clauses.

It represents good value for the Premier League champions, who paid just over €30,000 to sign Kelleher from Cork side Ringmahon Rangers 10 years ago.

But it also means the Mahon-based club will land a huge seven-figure payday, thanks to a 20 per cent sell-on clause negotiated at the time of his move in 2015.

Coffers

Rangers previously earned €50,000 when Kelleher was capped competitively for Ireland at senior level. This move will bring an extra €3m into the club's coffers.
