Murderer laced beef dish with deadly fungus

POISONER Erin Patterson is facing life behind bars for murdering three relatives of her estranged husband.

Patterson, 50, killed in-laws Gail and Donald Patterson, both 70, and Gail's sister Heather Wilkinson, 66, by feeding them beef Wellington laced with death cap mushrooms in July 2023.

She also attempted to kill Heather's husband Reverend Ian Wilkinson, 68, but he survived the attempt at Patterson's home.

Patterson had claimed the poisoning was an accident but was yesterday found guilty.

Prosecutor Nanette Rogers told the supreme court in Melbourne, Australia, that Patterson had foraged for the killer mushrooms and dried them in a dehydrator.
