Tom's excited to come back 'home'

- By Cathal Ryan

ENGLISH hitmaker Tom Grennan says Ireland is a “home from home”, as he prepares for his massive 3Arena show next month.

The singer-songwriter dropped his fourth album, Everywhere I Went, Led Me To Where I Didn't Want To Be, one week ago. An uplifting record, the 15-track album is about self-belief and having the confidence to take risks.

"I think for me, I could only write this album because I was in a place where I was just at peace," Tom Grennan told The Star’s Scene.

"I don't think I would have written it if I was still in the whirlwind of what I was in. So I think it was a bit cathartic in that sense, because I got to revisit old feelings, I got to revisit old stories, and kind of be like, 'Wow, I was that guy, or I did that, I forgot about that' but I was already at peace."

Full Attention, a single from the new album melding euphoric piano chords with Balearic grooves and soulful vocals, was the first time that Tom felt “comfortable” in his own ability, and with himself.

“When I first sang the chorus, that came first, I felt alive. That really just resonated,” he shared.

“This is probably the first time where I'm very comfortable in my own ability, and very comfortable with myself.
