Cup neglect makes me want to screen!

RTE SHOULD HAVE HAD FAI CUP GAMES ON LIVE

TODAY everyone will be saying how special the FAI Cup is.

They will say: "Isn't it magical?"

So can anyone tell me why this great Cup kickoff is not being screened live on TV?

You could not make it up.

On May 15, the FAI were delighted to announce that RTÉ had signed a record deal.

I am actually a big fan of RTÉ, I worked for them for years.

And while it has become fashionable to put the boot into that organisation, there has to be balance to the argument.

After Virgin Media got the privilege of being the broadcast partner to League of Ireland football, it was great to see our national broadcaster sign up to show the biggest cup competition in the biggest sport in our country.

But can someone tell me how the FAI signed a deal when no live game is on TV this weekend?

This is the weekend Cup magic is at its peak, when the 20 league clubs have dreams of glory, and non-league clubs dream of slaying a giant.

There should be THREE games live on TV.

We don't even have one.

Too many people are ignoring the competition EVEN THOUGH the whole country is dying to watch matches across the entire weekend.
