CELTIC ARE HEADING FOR A BREAKDOWN

BRENDAN Rodgers’ Honda Civic line seemed harsh. Not on his Celtic squad — on one of the most reliable cars around.

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

The Hoops are anything but reliable right now and there are warning lights flashing all over the place at Parkhead, with the wheels in danger of coming off.

In fact, there's not much chance of this jalopy getting through an MOT any time soon, never mind staying on the road in Scotland and in Europe.

Which actually beggars belief, given the cash in the Celtic coffers in recent years.

But if this motor was wheeled into the garage right now, what would the mechanics find under the hood?

And what repairs can be done to keep it roadworthy until major work can be done in January?

As for the problems, the dashboard is lighting up like a Christmas tree. This hasn't been an overnight crash either. Thr spluttering started ages ago.

It's like those folk who think the best solution to an engine rattling is to turn up the radio. But you could turn up AC/DC full blast and it wouldn't drown out the noise.

Celtic need to face a multilevel malfunction on and off the pitch.

There's the board for starters. Enough has been said and the damage is obvious. Recruitment has been awful, signings made too late and not good enough.

Paul Tisdale has been in a year as head of football operations and, if anything, it's got worse.
