Mare dazzles as Constitution crashes out

GALLANT grey Lossiemouth sealed a brilliant four-timer for jump racing royalty Willie Mullins at sun-soaked Aintree yesterday.

The mare carried plenty of market confidence after the training maestro made a flying start to the meeting.

Only one key rival - Nicky Henderson's once-unbeatable Constitution Hill - realistically threatened the Mullins clean sweep of the day's best races.

But Britain's big hope blundered away his chance under Nico De Boinville in a near-identical fall to his dramatic Champion Hurdle exit.

At the time, Lossiemouth (5-4) was making her move to challenge leader Wodhooh with a final jump of 11 in sight. And although Gordon Elliott's runner-up battled bravely, the winner drew clear in the final 100 yards.
