Fan starts petition urging national hol for crunch tie

AN Ireland fan has started a petition calling on the government to declare national holidays for next year's World Cup playoffs.

The Boys in Green face a semifinal on Thursday, March 26, which if they win will see them advance to a final five days later. The draw where our opponents will be revealed is tomorrow at 12pm.

Treland will face one of Poland, Wales, Czechia, Slovakia from Pot 2 away from home in the semifinal. We will be in Pot 3 for the draw as a result of Wales’ 7-1 win over North Macedonia.

Fan Brion Kennedy urged the Government to make the day after the semifinal a national holiday and says both the day of the final and the day after it should also be one-off holidays if Ireland succeed.
