THE two young people killed in a weekend crash in Co Antrim have been named locally.

- BY LAUREN HARTE

They were Mikey Brown and Layla Douglas, who were both in their 20s.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a road traffic collision involving a grey Skoda Fabia and a grey Cupra Formentor on the Lurgan Road in Glenavy shortly after 6.25pm on Saturday night.

Sadly, the two occupants of the Cupra, a man and a woman, were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Skoda was transferred to hospital for treatment to his injuries.

Townland Boxing Club was among those paying tribute, posting: “We are truly devastated to hear of the tragic death of young Mikey Brown.

“Mikey trained in our club many years ago such a lovely kid even after all this time he would stop and have a conversation with you and ask about the club.
