Sinfield brings his MND ultra marathon challenge to Cork

MODEST Kevin Sinfield ran 27.9 miles through stair-rod rain and icy winds on the first leg of his ultramarathon challenge - inspired by the motor neurone disease sufferers he's doing it for.

And today he takes to the streets of Cork on the second of seven back-to-back ultramarathons in the '7 in 7: Together' challenge, 18 months after the disease killed his best friend Rob Burrow at 41.

Kevin, 45, said: "The rain is beating down and it's cold. It's a good time of year for us to run. There's nobody else doing anything to bring this community together.

"They are so brave and courageous. They have not been looked after properly for a long time and it's got to change.

We've got to try and find a cure. If that means we have to run, we'll run."
