ROBBO HOPES TO BE LUCKY

STEPHEN ROBINSON admits he finally accepts his lucky boxers won't decide if his St Mirren side make the Premier Sports Cup final.

- ANDY NEWPORT

But he reckons he will have to keep his pants on if he is to avoid another embarrassing touchline bust-up at Hampden.

The Buddies boss is heading back to there for the first time since the 2017/18 campaign, when he led today's opponents Motherwell to the finals of both domestic cups.

But his memories of Well's victory over Rangers in the semis of that year's League Cup is marred by an "emotional" row with former Ibrox boss Pedro Caixinha (inset) which saw both men sent to the stands.

Robinson was left to cheer on Louis Moult's decisive double from the Hampden posh seats (above). "I remember that," said the Northern Irishman. "I was a young manager. I was a wee bit excitable. You are in your first semi, I remember Louis Moult scoring from 25 yards with an incredible chip and celebrating that in the stands.
