'Maduro did a lot of damage to his people'

TAOISEACH Micheal Martin has said Ireland never accepted the Maduro regime in Venezuela, but that it wanted “a peaceful transition” for the country.

Sinn Fein has called for the Government to react against the US intervention, with some EU leaders being criticised for not being strong enough in condemning US President Donald Trump for fear it could interfere with Ukraine peace negotiations.

Speaking in Beijing on the first day of his official Chinese trip, the Taoiseach said Maduro “did a lot of damage to his own people”.
