JOHN GOSDEN yesterday came out in defence of the role of the pacemaker in British racing.
The issue has been in the news this summer, thanks to the 150-1 Sussex Stakes victory of Qirat and the role of the Andre Fabre-trained Birr Castle in Wednesday's Juddmonte International, won by Ombudsman (below).
