Abdullah Khan was told his case was put back for four weeks awaiting directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions when he appeared at Cloverhill District Court in west Dublin yesterday morning.

He replied: "Sound" when he was told of the remand and that he would also be having a consultation with his solicitor.

Mr Khan, 23, appeared in front of Judge Patricia Cronin via videolink from Cloverhill Prison, wearing a grey sweatshirt.

He is charged with assault causing harm to a garda as well as production of a Tactix knife capable of causing serious injury.
