'Food poisoning' hits 100 at four-star Costa hotel

A SUSPECTED salmonella outbreak has laid low more than 100 tourists at a Spanish hotel.

Guests developed symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea at the four-star Izan Cavanna Hotel in La Manga in Murcia, eastern Spain at the weekend.

So many people became so badly ill that a field hospital was set up at the seafront hotel. Some patients reported a fever following lunch on Saturday.
