Cheers in Dail as McDonald blasts Martin over hikes

TENANTS cheered in the Dail gallery yesterday as Sinn Fein leader Mary Lou McDonald challenged the Taoiseach over rent hikes imposed by Dublin City Council.

After a heated exchange about the fuel protests, Ms McDonald asked Micheal Martin why council tenants have had their rents put up in Dublin's inner city.

She said these families are already stretched to the limit and have been crying out for very basic and long overdue maintenance for years.
