Investment fraud: victim cheated of Rs 74 lakh

Victim, a 50-year-old resident of Saidabad, was contacted on WhatsApp on May 18, 2025 by individuals claiming to represent “Citadel” and “Axis Securities,” who shared investment links promising daily returns of 8% to 20%.

Trusting their claims, victim initially invested ?1,00,000 each in both platforms via IMPS and received profit of ?8,000 on May 20, 2025, which led the victim to believe the scheme as genuine. Subsequently, victim was lured into making larger investments under the pretext of high returns from IPO stocks—claiming profits of up to 240% and 320%. Between May 23, 2025 and June 13, 2025, victim transferred ?31.00 lakh to Citadel and ?43.30 lakh to Axis Securities, totalling ?74.30 lakh. Later, they demanded further investments of ?83 lakhs and ?70.70 lakhs, falsely promising returns of ?7.5 crores. Victim refused and soon realized it was a fraud. Though the fake apps now show inflated balances (?1.26 crore in Citadel and ?2.62 crore in Axis Securities), victim is unable to withdraw any funds. Victim has been cheated throu
