While it is a big deal that land grabbers are encroaching on lands that should belong to the poor and middle class people, they are simultaneously encroaching on government land, creating false papers and going to court claiming that it is government land. This is causing immense injustice to the real beneficiaries who have received pattas from the government for residential purposes. Similarly, some others have gone to court alleging that their land was encroached upon by government employees. In addition to the negligence of government officials, the poor are facing serious problems due to the aggression of squatters. In Mulugu district center, there was real land during the rule of the previous rulers, and as the land rates increased, there was no obstacle to the encroachments of squatters. It seems that the map drawn by the government in 2007 for the settlement of poor people in survey numbers 1254/2 and 1255/2 has changed..‘- Where have the 90 plots gone..?“In the united state of Andhra Pradesh, the then Tahsildar in Mulugu mandal center purchased about 4 acres of land from the landowners in survey numbers 1254/2 and 1255/2 and paid them the market price and made plots for land distribution to the poor.
