FC STAR EYES NEW DEAL AT REVIVED BLACK AND WHITES

Settled Ashworth hopes to stay with Carty's Barmy Army

Jack Ashworth has made no secret of his desire to stay at Hull FC beyond 2025, with the forward keen to earn a new deal at the club.

Part of a big turnaround at the Black and Whites, Ashworth is aiming to put his best foot forward, knowing hard work will be the key to ensuring he’s part of John Cartwright's rebuild in the years to come.

At home in the city, the Rochdale-born player hasn’t got the offer yet but nonetheless is enjoying life, both on and off the field, with the 29-year-old looking to improve and help kick second-placed Hull on as they look for further improvements this season.

"I'm settled down in Hull; I really like it,” Ashworth told the Mail. “If the offer is there, I'd happily take it. Right now, there isn’t one. But as long as I keep going out and doing my job and my part for the team, hopefully one will come, and if not, then it’s not meant to be. We'll see what happens.”

On his own game, Ashworth, into his second year at the club, continued: “You feel like you can always give more and do more, but at the minute, I’m happy we're competing and I’m competing. Hopefully, I’m offering something and doing right by the team.

“Whether that’s at prop, back row, or whatever, I don’t mind. I was a back in my heyday. I used to be a centre when I was quick. I enjoy playing back row just as much as I enjoy playing in the middle. I'll play full-back if they ask me to. As long as I keep doing my job, I'll be happy.”

Turning around their fortunes, Hull are a much improved outfit in 2025. With six wins from nine games, they have reconnected as a team, adding cohesion and resilience to their game.
