When Hull FC winger Lewis Martin was released by Hull City’s academy, he thought his world was crashing down on him, but now, more than five years later, he’s a young superstar in every sense of the word.

Continuing what has been a rapid rise in rugby league, Martin’s ceiling knows no boundaries. He's Super League's top try scorer with 25 - 32 in all competitions - a Super League Dream Team winger, Hull FC’s Young Player of the Year, and now on Tuesday, nominated for the same title - but this time for Super League.

And while the limelight continues to shine brighter on the Hull-born talent, who has played every minute of every game this season, his modesty remains intact. If anything, this is a player who still seems starstruck by it all.

“It's been crazy,’ Martin told the Mail when reminded of his achievements this year. “If you said all that to me at the start of the year, I wouldn’t have expected to score anywhere near as many as that and to get in the Dream Team, it’s just ridiculous to even say.

“Again, it’s all been a crazy few years, leaving Hull City and thinking my world was ending. It was one of the worst bits of news I'd ever received at the time and to be five to six years down the line and getting in the Dream Team, being top try scorer, and getting young player of the year at Hull FC, it’s just crazy to say.
