COP is the political vehicle for the work done by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (the IPCC).
Without these constructs many nations wouldn’t have been encouraged to recognise that human emissions, primarily from fossil fuels, are causing dangerous climate change with increasingly negative impacts on human society and the potential for disaster.
