Millions of people across Jharkhand and Maharashtra will head to the polling booth on Wednesday, bringing the curtains down on the year's final elections that saw high-voltage campaigning.
All 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra and 38 of the 81 seats in Jharkhand will be up for grabs on Wednesday, with the votes set to be counted on Saturday. The other 43 seats in Jharkhand went to the polls on November 13.
A pitched contest is set to play out in high-stakes Maharashtra, one of India's largest states that holds immense political capital. Battling it out are the two main coalitions - the ruling Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). A total of 4,136 candidates are in the fray.
