'IndiGo order defines civil aviation of India'

Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday said that the IndiGo order of 500 aircraft with Airbus - the single-largest aircraft order in the world to date - defines the potential of civil aviation in the country, showcases the unprecedented growth airlines have experienced over the last nine years, and highlights the potential that the sector holds not only for stakeholders but also for the larger economy

NEW DELHI: "Every dollar invested in civil aviation yields $3.1 in terms of new growth, as well as the employment multiplier. Every direct job in civil aviation results in 6.1 indirect jobs in the sector. And therefore, there are tremendous dividends that accrue from the ever-expanding civil aviation sector," he added.
