NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday raided the residence of Simran Preet Panesar, one of the key suspects in Canada's biggest gold heist, in Mohali, two days after the federal agency registered a money laundering case for a crime that took place on foreign soil, officials said.
HT had reported on February 19 that ED launched a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) probe by invoking section 2 (1) (ra) of the Act, which allows it to take up cases of cross-border implications, where a crime has been committed by an Indian abroad.
