ED OPPOSES PC'S PLEA AGAINST COURT ORDER IN INX MEDIA CASE

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday opposed senior Congress leader P Chidambaram's plea challenging a city court's order taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed by the probe agency in the INX media case, saying that the actions in question did not form a part of his official duties.
"These allegations (of creation of shell companies) do not form a part of any official duty. Receiving bribes can never be a part of official duties," ED's Special Counsel Zoheb Hossain, submitted before a bench of justice Manoj Kumar Ohri.
