NEW DELHI/LONDON: Cristiano Ronaldo is on the final stretch of an extraordinary career, five Ballon d'Ors, and Champions League titles each, league wins in England, Spain and Italy, and an inspiration to a generation of players in Portugal and elsewhere. He also owns the record for most goals by any player for a country. But even the slew of achievements on the pitch may not salvage his club career after stunning criticism of Manchester United bosses and the team's Dutch manager Erik ten Hag who has sporadically used him.

In an incendiary interview on the programme "Piers Morgan Uncensored" for Britain's TalkTV, he has said he feels "betrayed" by the club, claiming that senior figures have tried to force him out of Old Trafford. A brief club statement said it will respond after the full interview is aired.
