Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday said that two separate magisterial inquiries would be initiated into the incidents of violence and looting of arms at Churachandpur and Imphal East districts of the strifetorn northeastern state over the last week.

On Thursday night, two people were killed and 25 others sustained injuries after a crowd breached the security perimeter and entered the compound housing offices of superintendent of police (SP) Shivanand Surve and deputy commissioner Dharun Kumar in the tribal-dominated region of Churachandpur after a head constable from the Kuki community was suspended over a video of him with "armed village volunteers".
