Delhi residents experienced their cleanest air day in four months and the cleanest February day in two years, as strong winds in the early hours of Thursday swept away pollutants, leaving the city AIR WE with uncharacteristically clear blue skies.
The 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) stood at BREATHE 134 (moderate) at 4pm Thursday, when the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) releases its national daily bulletin.
This made it the cleanest day since October 10, when the AQI was 132. It was also the best air quality in February since February 14, 2023, when the AQI was also 132.
In the last 48 hours, Delhi's air quality improved by over 150 points, dropping from 293 (poor) on Tuesday to 212 (poor) on Wednesday. Forecasts predict winds up to 25 km/hr on Saturday, likely keeping the AQI in the "moderate" range.
