'BJP nod to CBI inquiry against DKS not in accordance with law'
Hindustan Times
|November 24, 2023
The Karnataka government on Thursday announced that the previous Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government's sanction accorded to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe a disproportionate assets case against deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar was "not in accordance with law".
SAYS KARNATAKA GOVT - ORDER LIKELY IN 2-3 DAYS
CBI registered a corruption case against Shivakumar in October 2020 for allegedly amassing illegal wealth to the tune of ₹74 crore. This followed a 2017 raid by the Income Tax Department and probe thereafter by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The BJP government, led by former chief minister BS Yediyurappa, accorded its sanction in 2019. Shivakumar challenged the sanction in Karnataka High Court, which is set to hear the matter on November 29.
