K'taka seeks ₹90k crore for Bengaluru in Union Budget

Ahead of the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, set to be presented on February 1, Karnataka's deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar has written to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, requesting nearly ₹90,000 crore in funding for key infrastructure projects in Bengaluru.

The letter highlights the city's pressing infrastructure needs and the urgency of addressing them to sustain its rapid growth.

Shivakumar emphasised the importance of Bengaluru's development, given its position as a major tech hub and the "Silicon Valley of India". In his letter, he addressed Sitharaman directly, noting, "As a member of Parliament representing Karnataka, you are well aware of Bengaluru's emergence as a leading hub for technological advancements and investment attraction, both domestic and international."
