RANCHI: The Hemant Soren cabinet on Wednesday approved 'Jharkhand mineral-bearing land cess (amendment) Bill 2025', to increase cess on the mined minerals in the state by up to four times, people aware of the development said.

The amendment bill, to be tabled in Assembly next week, aims to tweak the cess rates fixed in the 'Jharkhand mineral-bearing land cess Act 2024', which provides for varying degree of tax against different minerals on per metric tonne basis.
