The principal opposition, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), elected former chief minister and party president Babulal Marandi as their legislature party leader, clearing the deck for a Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly.
RANCHI: The principal opposition, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), elected former chief minister and party president Babulal Marandi as their legislature party leader, clearing the deck for a Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly.
Marandi, currently the president of the party's state unit, holds the distinction of being the first chief minister of Jharkhand after its creation in 2000.
The central leadership had appointed Union minister Bhupendra Yadav and the national president of its OBC Morcha parliamentarian K. Lakshman as observers for the election of the legislature party leader, which was organised at the party's state headquarters on Thursday.
