CPI (M) to lead Belgarhia stir at JRDA office over civic neglect

Despite the Jharkhand government accelerating rehabilitation under the revised ‘Jharia Master Plan’, aiming to transform Belgarhia into a model township, residents have expressed growing frustration over the lack of basic amenities in the colony.

Amid growing discontent, the Belgarhia unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPI (M), has announced a gherao of the Jharia Rehabilitation and Development Authority (JRDA) office, the implementing agency for the master plan, on July 22.

At a meeting held on Sunday under the leadership of Mohan Bhuiyan, secretary of the Belgarhia unit of CPI (M), residents unanimously resolved to stage the protest over persisting civic issues, including waterlogging, faulty drainage, crumbling houses, persistent electricity problems, and water seepage from roofs during rains.
