BJP FUNCTIONARY STABBED TO DEATH BY SIX PEOPLE

A 33-year-old man was shot dead by a group of 25 armed men at a hotel in Udaipur late Sunday evening, police officers aware of the matter said, adding that the gang arrived in seven vehicles, surrounded the premises, and fired around 60 rounds while the victim was having dinner with friends.

Police suspect that an old dispute over bajri (sand) mining to be the motive behind the attack. Superintendent of police (SP) Sudhir Joshi said a preliminary probe revealed the deceased, Ajay Raj Singh Jhala, was involved in the construction material business and had an old business rivalry with the accused. However, further investigation is underway to ascertain the actual motive behind the incident, he said.

The SP said, "The deceased Ajay Singh was sitting at the hotel with his associates when suddenly the accused came, encircled the hotel and started firing. During that, one of the bullets got stuck in Ajay's chest and his lungs got punctured and he died on the spot. The accused have been identified and a manhunt has been started."
