The Prime Accused, Joginder Singh, Who Is Originally From Uttar Pradesh, Was Released on Bail in 2023 in a Murder Case
DEHRADUN: Two criminals, who were arrested at Kotdwar in Pauri Garhwal on Saturday, for allegedly extorting men on a popular dating app were produced in a court on Sunday and were sent to judicial custody, police officers aware of the matter said on Monday.
The prime accused, Joginder Singh, who is originally from Uttar Pradesh, was released on bail in 2023 in a murder case registered against him at the Kandhla police station in Shamli, while his associate, Ravinder, was also facing an attempt to murder charge, they added.
The two accused devised a plan to prey on men on dating apps by allegedly engaging in sexual activities, secretly recording the acts, assaulting them and even blackmailing them to extort money by posing as fake police officers, police said.
