Gehlot Targets Raje for Flagging Issue of Water Crisis 'Selectively'

Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday hit back at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Vasundhara Raje over her remarks on the drinking water crisis in Jhalawar, urging her to raise concerns for the entire Parbati-Kalisindh-Chambal (PKC)-ERCP Link Project instead of being selective.

JAIPUR: Responding to Raje's earlier criticism of the administration, Gehlot said she should focus on the broader issue and the agreement signed during the BJP's tenure.

On Tuesday, Raje expressed anguish regarding water arrangements in Jhalawar and said, "The officers are sleeping, the people are crying, I will not let this happen," which prompted the opposition Congress to corner the (chief minister) Bhajan Lal Sharma government.

When asked about her statement, Gehlot addressing the media in Jaipur said that she should talk about the PCK-ERCP agreement signed by the BJP government.

"My complaint to Vasundhara Ji is that she, who has been the chief minister twice, is only talking about Jhalawar. This is wrong. If she has political integrity, then she should call a press conference and tell whether the new PKC-ERCP has any substance or is truly beneficial," Gehlot said.
