Delhi HC seeks NIA stand on J&K MLA's bail plea

The Delhi high court on Thursday issued notice on a plea by Engineer Rashid, a member of Parliament from Jammu & Kashmir seeking directions to the city court to pronounce orders on his bail application in a terror-funding case.
NEW DELHI:
In a massive upset, Rashid was elected in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections defeating National Conference leader Omar Abdullah from the Baramulla constituency even though he was lodged in jail.
On Thursday, a bench of justice Vikas Mahajan sought the National Investigation Agency (NIA)'s response in the matter, and fixed January 30 as the next date of hearing. "Issue notice. Mr Akshai Malik for NIA accepts notice. Let reply be filed in the form of a status report. List on January 30," the court said in the order.
