Rajasthan has experienced a significant surge in renewable energy production over the past decade, marking it an achievement in the desert state's energy sector.

- HT Correspondent

JAIPUR: In 2014-15, Rajasthan generated 6,586.82 million units of renewable energy. By 2023-24, this figure surged to 48,162.93 million units, reflecting a staggering 731% increase in renewable energy output, according to government data.

In reply to an unstarred question raised by MP Harish Meena in the Lok Sabha, the ministry of new and renewable energy informed that the Centre has taken several steps and initiatives including launch of various schemes to promote and accelerate renewable energy capacity in the country to realise the target of 500 GW non-fossil power capacity by 2030.

The ministry said that it has been actively working on the Intra State Green Energy Corridor (GEC) Scheme, which aims to facilitate the efficient evacuation of renewable energy in 10 states rich in renewable resources, including Rajasthan.
