Versace: Donatella steps down, Prada-linked designer steps in, speculations of buyout rise

Donatella Versace has officially stepped down as the creative director of the iconic fashion house founded by her late brother, Gianni Versace.

She will now assume the role of chief brand ambassador, as announced by Versace's parent company, Capri Holdings, on Thursday.

Taking her place is Dario Vitale, previously the design director at Miu Miu, a label under the Prada Group. Vitale's appointment will take effect from April 1, marking a new chapter for the luxury fashion house.
