New Body For Research And Education In State

The higher and technical education department has decided to establish a State Academic and Research Council (SARC) to provide strategic guidance for higher education, studies, research and innovations in the state.
MUMBAI: The council's main objectives will be to advise all the universities in the state, coordinate curricula and maintain uniformity in education.
In 2020, the state government appointed a task force under the chairmanship of senior scientist Raghunath Mashelkar to come up with guidelines for the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP). It chose one of the recommendations to form SARC for the effective implementation of NEP 2020.
