MHA calls meeting of Kuki, Meitei groups in Delhi today

The MHA is set to hold joint talks with Kuki-Zo and Meitei groups in New Delhi on Saturday afternoon, which, if fructifies, will be the first time in the last two years that the two communities will come together to sit for peace talks mediated by the Centre.
NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha passed a statutory resolution on the proclamation of President's Rule in Manipur around 4am on Friday, marking the second day Parliament has taken up the issue of central rule in the strife-torn state in dead of the night.
Union home minister Amit Shah moved the resolution—Parliament has to approve central rule within two months of its imposition—in the Upper House at 2.36 am, after 13 hours of discussion on The Waqf(Amendment) Bill 2025.
It was approved by the House by voice vote at 3.58 am, after a 81-minute discussion that saw the participation of 11 speakers, including Shah, who responded to the debate. The same resolution was approved by the Lok Sabha at 2.40 am on Thursday.
