Cong pushes govt for death sentence in case; 'Satisfactory', says BJP

The Opposition Congress on Friday welcomed the Pauri Garhwal court's judgment to give life sentences to three accused in the 2022 receptionist murder case but demanded that the state government direct the prosecution to approach the high court for the death sentence.

Speaking to media persons after the court order, Suryakant Dhasmana, state Congress vice president (organisation and administration), said, "We welcome the session court's verdict to give life terms to all three accused. But, we demand from the state government that it should direct the prosecution to appeal in the high court for the death penalty of the convicts."
